Description
Our Facilities Manager at Volunteers of America (VOA) is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of the Facilities and Maintenance Department, including the supervision of staff, handling maintenance requests, and ensuring the smooth functioning of buildings and grounds.
This role involves both hands-on tasks such as cleaning, repairs, and upkeep, as well as administrative responsibilities, including managing work schedules, maintaining certifications, and using technology to track and report progress. The manager must balance multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and collaborate with program managers, residents, and vendors to ensure all facilities operate efficiently. The position requires proficiency with software tools, including Outlook, Excel, and work order systems, and a capacity to adapt to evolving technologies.
In addition to daily operational management, the Facilities Manager plays a key role in strategic planning, resource allocation, and program development, working closely with the Director to implement VOA's mission. The manager is also involved in staff recruitment, training, and supervision, ensuring a supportive and efficient work environment. This full-time, on-call position includes flexible hours, weekend and holiday work, and occasional travel. The role demands a hands-on approach to maintenance and janitorial tasks, as well as strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills to manage both staff and the organization's facilities. Additionally, physical stamina is required to perform various tasks, including lifting and navigating diverse work environments.

Required Education and / or Experience : To perform this job successfully, an individual must have :
High School diploma or equivalent
2 years of supervisory experience
Certificates and / or Licenses : To perform this job successfully, an individual must :
Have a valid Driver's License
Have the ability to maintain Auto Liability Insurance
Have reliable transportation
Successfully pass a Comprehensive Criminal History Background Check and Driving Record Review
Preferred Education and / or Experience :
- Experience with REAC inspections
- 3 years of maintenance experience
- Experience with HQS inspections
Bona Fide Occupational Requirements
Must be at least 21 years of age
