Volunteers of America Upstate New York's Children's Center services provides educational programs focused on early childhood development and school readiness for children 6 weeks through 12 years old. The center serves more than 500 children and families on an annual basis and provides additional support services such as a full-time Registered Nurse, family development services, on-going parent training, full-day care, and disability supports for children with special needs.

Full Time | Temp to Perm | M-F; 0730-1600
Job Summary:
The Cook helps to ensure that all health standards and regulations related to food service are met. They assist with preparing food, maintaining sanitation standards, and distributing meals at the VOA Children's Center.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare and serve meals according to posted menu and/or at the direction of the Kitchen Manager or Dietary specialist, in a sanitary atmosphere at designated mealtimes, and in accordance with VOA policies and protocols.
- Assist in maintaining a complete food inventory in accordance with regulatory agencies and VOA requirements.
- Help ensure that all dining areas receive correct amounts of food as directed.
- Ensure that adequate substitutions are available for those with special dietary needs, and partner with Health Advocate to accommodate those needs as directed.
- Assist with maintaining the kitchen in a sanitary manner.
- Assist with maintaining any needed records.
- Assist in the preparation/provision of meals for other events, i.e., Parent & Policy Committee.
- Provide coverage in any classroom as needed to maintain ratios.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1 year previous cooking experience
- A combination of education and experience may be considered
- ServeSafe Certification, preferred
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred

Salary : $17 - $19
