General Purpose/Summary of Job:

Vornado’s BMS team is seeking a Junior Accountant to work in Paramus, NJ. The Junior Accountant will assist in maintaining financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This entry-level position is ideal for recent graduates or individuals with a foundational understanding of accounting principles who are looking to grow their careers in finance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in monitoring daily cash positions and cash flow forecasts.
- Support the processing of treasury transactions, including wire transfers and payment approvals.
- Maintain accurate records of cash management activities and financial instruments.
- Prepare cash management reports.
- Participate in the analysis of financial risks and liquidity management strategies.
- Support compliance with treasury policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with finance and accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare reconciliations for various Vornado properties including journal entries to record tenant payroll, overhead and rent adjustments.
- Prepare journal entries monthly for depreciation, amortization, supply reclasses and various accruals and re-classes.
- Maintain depreciation and amortization schedules.
- Monitor inventories including analyzing variances and preparing adjusting je’s.
- Analyze variance report for Vornado day and night staff payroll.
- Verify coding of union benefits on a monthly and quarterly basis
- G/L coding of various A/P invoices including ADP bills.
- Assist in monthly financial reporting process.
Education/Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
Skills/Requirements:
- Experience in accounting, including journal entries and variance analysis.
- Solid computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and experience with some type of accounting software.
- Excellent attendance and punctuality; must be professional, dependable, and work well with others.
- Ability to multi-task while exhibiting good judgment and poise in a fast-paced environment with monthly deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Detailed-oriented with strong analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize and work with minimal supervision.
