Title: Athletic Director
Status: Full Time – 12-month position

We are currently seeking an Athletic Director to join our Athletics & Leadership Teams.
Job Description:
The Athletic Director oversees all aspects of the 6th-12th grade athletic program, including hiring coaches, scheduling, budget preparation, promotion, compliance, and facility management. The Athletic Director also supervises coaches and the Assistant Athletic Director at the Middle School.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage all athletic programs
- Oversee the Assistant Athletic Director at the Middle School
- Recruit, train, and supervise all coaches
- Assess the school's athletic program and its feeder middle school athletic program to monitor for continuous improvement
- Partner with the Principals to select, assign, and evaluate coaches
- Responsible for creating and managing the athletic budget and partner with the Managing Director to manage fiscal resources
- Schedules all athletic contests, fields, and facilities
- Schedules all game officials and security personnel
- Maintain the athletic page on the school website to promote programs and athletes
- Create a weekly athletic update for the school newsletter
- Serve as School Administrator at home athletic events and work in conjunction with the Assistant Athletic Director, Principal(s) and Assistant Principal(s) to ensure additional coverage of all home events as needed
- Attend off-campus athletic events whenever possible to support student athletes
- Ensures student athletic eligibility according to North Carolina High School Athletics Association (NCHSAA) guidelines
- Oversee the rental of turf field
- Serves as liaison with Coaches and Principals to address student academics and discipline impacting athletic eligibility
- Represents Voyager Academy with the NCHSAA
- Attends relevant meetings regarding conference and state NCHSAA business
- Coordinates athletic budgets, working with Coaches to ensure equity across all sports
- Plans and coordinates athletic awards programs and student/parent athletic events
- Manage and oversee all sales of athletic sportswear
- Maintains a current physical for each student athlete and partners with school nurse and trainer
- Ensures that all student athletes are insured
- Maintains records and ensure appropriate training, including first aid training and equipment for all coaching staff
- Arranges transportation for all athletic teams
- Maintains an active athletic program that promotes sportsmanship and welcomes competing teams and guests
- Coordinates details of visiting teams’ needs
- Supervises all ticket sales and fund-raising events of the athletic program and assumes responsibility for proper handling of funds
- Partner with Booster Club to initiate fundraising programs to support athletics
- Attends Booster Club meetings and reports to the Principal and Managing Director membership and activity updates
- Coordinates public relations in cooperation with school administration
- Maintains records of the results of all athletic contests and athletic scholarships
- Recruits community and business field and gym sponsors to support Voyager Academy
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Managing Director
- Demonstrate Voyager core values and support the school vision and mission
Minimum Education and Experience:
The Athletic Director should have previous experience as a teacher, coach, athletic director and/or school administrator. Collaborative, detail oriented manager with strong interpersonal, writing and verbal communications skills desired.
Bachelor’s Degree required
