What are the responsibilities and job description for the Set-up Technician position at VRC Engineered Solutions?
1st shift:
7am - 3:30pm Monday - Friday, weekends as needed
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Must be able to understand and follow shop orders regarding required materials for job being set-up
- Pre-set, change and set-up of all scheduled molds in proper presses according to the set-up procedures and shop orders; set up all support and secondary equipment needed for a specific job; assures proper packaging is available for job
- Must be able to perform color changes and/or insert changes according to the shop order as required
- Must be able to maintain machine and secondary support equipment at all times; report any equipment breakdowns or damage to the supervisor/maintenance department immediately
- Performs daily safety checks on each machine and sign off inspection on the daily check sheet; report any unsafe situations immediately
- Operates forklift as required
- Maintains cycle standards as necessary for quality parts and production standards
- Visually inspect parts according to control plan, reporting rejects as soon as practical to quality person in charge or as instructed
- Assists with material handling as required
- Packages product according to the shop order and labels
- Must keep accurate production records
- Cleans molds as required
- Performs other related duties as required or requested.
Job Skills Requirements
- Must be mechanically inclined; knowledge of materials used, tooling, overall processing of injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment; perform changes and set-ups
- Communicate operation problems effectively to management; able to read, write and communicate in English to instruct others concerning operation parameters
- Must be able to add and subtract 3 (three) digit numbers; divide and multiply; understand difference in basic weight and size measurements
- Must be able to follow specific instructions provided in job packets for each assigned job; able to meet or exceed established production rates for job being run
- Ability to use digital interfaces such as a computer, scan gun, etc. is required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Requires a High school diploma or HSED/GED plus three (3) years’ experience operating a plastic injection molding machine. Prefer prior set-up experience; or equivalent combination of education and training.
Certifications & Licenses – Must become forklift certified through the company.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand or be on his/her feet; talk or hear; and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, twist, bend or reach above the shoulders.
The employee must occasionally lift up to 50 pounds alone or 75 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The position is primarily on the manufacturing floor. The employee may occasionally perform work-related travel outside of state.
