W.W. Gay is seeking an Estimating Intern. This is a seasonal, entry-level position open to active students pursuing a college degree in a field applicable to construction, with an interest in Project Cost Estimating and/or Project Management.
The Estimating Intern will be responsible for assisting the Estimating Department by learning the basics of our on-screen takeoff software and preparing quantity takeoffs from engineered drawings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Estimating Intern will be responsible for assisting the Estimating Department by learning the basics of our on-screen takeoff software and preparing quantity takeoffs from engineered drawings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform onscreen takeoffs of piping and/or ductwork systems
- Prepare quantity surveys of material from plans and specifications
- Enter counts into Trimble AutoBid estimating software
- Perform administrative tasks to support the estimating department
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Estimating Manager
- Fast learning, focused, and driven individual with an interest in mechanical piping and plumbing systems.
- Ability to accurately and consistently execute processes and provide the same quality work product daily.
- Ability to take directions from departmental managers and/or instructors.
- Exceptional written, verbal communication skills and listening skills
- Strong work ethic, Professional, Dependable, Punctual, Positive Attitude
- Organization and attention to detail
- Mid-level to advanced computer skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel & Word
- 0–1-year experience in Trimble AutoBid, prior experience is preferred
- High School Diploma or GED
- Actively pursuing associate degree or higher-level education in field applicable to construction
- 40 hours/ week in Jacksonville office. No remote work.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
