About the job
We are looking for a structural engineer to work in our Orem, UT office.
We will produce structural designs for a wide variety of challenging projects using wood, concrete, steel, masonry, aluminum, and other building materials. You will be involved in projects such as seismic bracing of mechanical equipment, manholes, ballistic protection walls, metal building foundations, office buildings, houses, churches, and more. You will design repairs for existing buildings that have been damaged by things such as fire, lightning strikes, airplane and automobile impacts, fallen trees, and water leaks. Responsibilities
you will work with clients to understand project requirements and to ensure the structural design meets their needs
work with the drafting department to produce detailed drawings that clearly communicate the engineering design
prepare structural calculations
prepare written reports.
Qualifications
You should have
strong verbal and written communication skills
the ability to work effectively with others
an aptitude for problem solving
a curiosity about how things work in the world around you
a solid understanding of structural engineering principles and of building codes
a self-driven disposition with a limited need for continuous direction from others
the physical ability to walk on uneven terrain around job sites and on pitched roofs, climb ladders, and maneuver through tight spaces.
a current license as a Professional or Structural Engineer in Utah, or have the ability to become licensed in Utah within six months. If you are currently licensed as a Professional Engineer, you should be seeking the necessary training and experience needed to become licensed as a Structural Engineer.
