What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Success Coach position at Wake Technical Community College?
The Student Success Coach is responsible for promoting a positive and successful learning experience for students to increase student retention, success, and completion.

*Fosters persistence and completion by maintaining a caseload of new students to the college and students experiencing academic difficulty; collaborates with other offices to manage the coordination of support offered for those students needed additional support
*Provides proactive case management services through on-going contact and follow up with assigned students; and coordinates referrals to available college and community services as needed to assist them in achieving academic success
*Communicate directly with students via phone, text, email, virtually or other media
*Builds rapport and trust with students and serve as an information center for students, directing students to other relevant offices as necessary.
*Utilizes college software to monitor student progress toward goal completion, identifies key points of student attrition, and track contact with students using services
Empowers assigned caseload of students to effectively communicate with faculty and student services and become better connected to resources and support services
Works with supervisor to identify at-risk students using early alert data;
Collaborates with Director of Student Success in making recommendations for changes in policies and programs to increase student success
Submits monthly activity reports to the Director of Student Success as requested
Participates in college-wide and service area activities and events that promote student success
Participates in professional development activities and maintain knowledge of current trends
Complete an annual applied benchmark project on an individual or group basis.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of and commitment to the application of the highest standards of legal and ethical principles
Knowledge of and ability to follow college policies and procedures
Knowledge of current technologies and virtual communication platforms, presentation creation, and web-based applications
Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office, Ellucian (Colleague), and WebAdvisor
Knowledge of college student development, educational advising, and retention practices
Ability to multi-task and organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion with an attention to detail
Ability to relate to a diverse population and to maintain composure when faced with difficult situations
Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment
Ability to work on multiple campuses, as needed
Ability to communicate with student via various methods (face to face, phone, email, virtual, and text based communication)
Well-developed written and oral communication skills
Ability to travel locally between campuses as needed
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree
One year of experience providing advising, counseling, academic coaching, or retention support in a college setting or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
