What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health and Wellness Facilitator position at Walker Center for Alcoholism and Drug Addiction?
Health and Wellness Facilitator is part of an inter-disciplinary treatment team that monitors, observes, and ensures the safety and well-being of the clients. This team member presents lectures to clients that are within the scope of practice and evidence-based curriculum including but not limited to medical impact of alcohol and other drugs, self-care about chronic illness and disease, nutrition, and physical fitness activities. The Health and Wellness Facilitator provides motivational and educational support and guidance to assist clients in meeting therapeutic goals and enhancing life skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides collaboration with the counseling staff regarding therapeutic goals.
- May assist in developing and implementing new treatment programs.
- Participates, when necessary, in appropriate clinical and Walker Center curriculum duties, including experiential therapy, exercise programing, family program, crisis intervention, lectures, and educational or skill groups.
- Prepare and conduct lectures for clients, families, small or large groups, and employees that promote health and wellness activities and lifestyles.
- Functions as a positive professional member of the Walker Center by interacting therapeutically with staff, clients, families, visitors and others while also participating in outreach and marketing activities.
- Prepare and complete all necessary documentation and record keeping regarding clients.
- Facilitate and participate in health and wellness activities including, but not limited to hiking, snowshoeing, golfing, rock climbing, river rafting, bowling and snow skiing.
- Maintain knowledge and adhere to The Walker Center policies and procedures.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Must have a bachelor’s degree in health science, nutrition, exercise science or a related field, OR four (4) years of related work experience, OR possess certification demonstrating skill competency.
- Physical and emotional health must be adequate to perform duties such as walking, running and other aerobic activities.
- Self-identified person in recovery from a Substance Use Disorder must have a minimum of five (5) years of sobriety from substances of abuse.
- Must pass pre-hire requirements including a criminal background check, UA, and TB test.
- Must be CPR certified within 90 days of hire.
