Service Description:
A Wellness Coach is a new service position developed to support students with emotional and behavioral health challenges and to launch careers in health, education, and human services. Specifically, Wellness Coaches:
- Develop strong foundational knowledge in child and adolescent development and behavioral health.
- Learn and become proficient in evidence-based behavioral health supports, social emotional skill-building interventions, and case management approaches.
- Work in schools and youth-serving organizations with youth facing emotional and behavioral health challenges, such as anxiety, depression, loneliness, and unhealthy eating, sleeping, and screen time patterns.
- Work during school and after school.
- Are supervised by independently licensed clinicians.
- Trained in case management and social services referrals skills.
Note: Wellness coaches are not therapists and should not be confused with physical fitness coaches. They are trained and supervised to support youth, teach effective skill-building and support strategies, and identify and facilitate referral for clinical and social services / therapy as needed.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Facilitate 1:1 and group coaching for behavioral health and wellness promotion.
- Support school staff during regular school hours and after-school settings when doable.
- Meet all the required orientation, training, and service hours to earn a Wellness Coach Certification and the Segal AmeriCorps Educational Award.
- Attend weekly meetings with clinical supervisor and on-site coordinator.
- Enter and collect notes in a timely and accurate manner.
- Always uphold professional standards and boundaries.
Qualifications:
- High school Diploma/ GED equivalent.
- Be 18 years old or older.
- Able to pass a background check.
- Reliable means of transportation to attend service site and trainings.
- Able to commit up to 20 hours per week starting on August 6th, 2024, upon successful completion of background screening.
- Able to commit to an 11-month school calendar year service period.
Skills and Experience:
- Proficiency in the use of computer systems for information management.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply (but not required).
- Have experience working with youth.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Reliable, adaptable and a team player.
