WANDER STAFFING seeks to add two (2) Perioperative PACU Registered Nurses to our Team ASAP! This position is located at the Gallup Indian Medical Center, Gallup, NM 87301
Where: The Division of Nursing Services in the Gallup Medical Center, 516 E Nizhoni Blvd, Gallup, NM 87301
Pay:
- $90/hour
- $10/hour weekday on call
- $15/hour weekend on call
Experience:
- Thirty-six (36) months of nursing experience
- A minimum of twenty-four months (24) as a PACU RN
License/Registration:
- Possess a current, valid, unrestricted nursing license in a state, the District of Columbia, The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States
Certifications
- Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS
Schedule:
- 80 hour Per Pay Period
- 8-hour Flex Day Shifts Mon -Fri/ includes Wknds and Holidays, Stand by Call rotation
About the Position: This position is in the Operating Room, the nursing branch of the Gallup Indian Medical Center. All elective and emergency surgeries include general surgery, orthopedics, vascular, OB/GYN, urology, ENT, Oral Surgery, Dental and Ophthalmology. Over 2400 cases are performed each year. Trauma is a significant part of the emergent cases performed. The operating rooms are staffed by utilizing standby call services after hours, on holidays, and on weekends. The PACU registered nurse provides intensive nursing care and post-anesthesia care to patients undergoing a broad range of surgical procedures.
Core Duties:
- Performs critical professional nursing duties for patients whose condition warrants specialized care.
- In the recovery phase, observation and assessment post-anesthesia is completed
- Collaborates with surgeon and anesthesia team on patient status and plan of care.

Records and maintains all data relevant to post-anesthesia care.
- Observes the patient closely for adverse signs and symptoms
- Provides intervention emergently utilizing ACLS or PALS training
- Is alert for signs and symptoms of shock or other complications that may occur in post-op recovery.
- Assists the anesthesia or surgeon with resuscitation and assessment, monitors the patient's condition while in recovery.
- Administers therapeutic measures as prescribed by the anesthesiologist and/or anesthetist or surgeon such as medications, treatment, IV fluids, blood products, oxygen, and others.
Tentative start date: 04/2025 (could fluctuate slightly due to credentialing and security requirements)
Duration of Contract: 24 months with the option to extend further.
Time Off: Time off requests are coordinated with the department Nursing Supervisor or designee prior to any absence from work. If the length of the absence exceeds eight (8) work hours and beyond, the RN shall notify the department Nursing Supervisor (the exception is verifiable emergencies) before the desired absence.
