Washington County 911 is currently seeking qualified individuals for Emergency 911 Call Taker and Dispatchers. 911 Call Taker and Dispatchers are responsible for answering emergency and non-emergency 911 calls, and dispatching Police, Sheriff, Fire and EMS responders to the Washington County, Johnson City, and Jonesborough areas. As a 911 Call Taker and Dispatcher, you are the first point of contact for people in desperate need of help. This requires the ability to manage inbound calls in a timely manner, correctly categorize 9-1-1 calls accordingly to dispatch the first responder emergency or non-emergency, depending on the circumstance or situation. You will be required to have knowledge of the Johnson City and Washington County geographical area. You must be willing to work rotating 12-hour shifts, which includes nights, weekends, and holidays. Must have the ability to effectively communicate, have excellent computer skills, type at least 30 words per minute, and able to multi-task different job functions in a fast-paced environment. You are required to have a valid driver’s license, high school diploma or GED. Applicants are required to have a background check.
