Job Summary:
The Director of Institutional and Corporate Giving is a senior leader on HRA’s Development team responsible for leading the vision, strategy, and management of HRA’s institutional partners. This role will work closely with the development team and program staff to build impactful partnerships for foundation and corporation funders.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Establish a clear vision and growth strategy for institutional partnerships, and measure progress against data-based goals that align with HRA’s mission and priorities
- Build and manage new relationships with foundation and corporate funders at the 5-7 figure gift levels
- Work with the current team to grow relationships with current foundation and corporate funders
- Oversee the development of compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and applications, and manage own portfolio work for top institutional prospects
- Partner with program and operations staff to ensure seamless information sharing for developing accurate grant budgets and ensuring proper fund allocation.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with senior staff, board members, and funding partners
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present, inform and motivate individuals and groups about HRA’s mission and the importance of raising funds in support of the mission.
- Proven track record of securing 6- and 7-figure grants
- Exceptional organizational and leadership skills, with a demonstrated track record of building effective systems that foster collaboration
- Commitment to donor confidentiality
- Commitment to data tracking in organization CRM (Raiser’s Edge)
- Availability and ability to work evenings and weekend hours as needed
- Passion for the HRA mission, and for caring for all animals regardless of age, breed, temperament or species

Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 18 years of age.
- Basic familiarity with computers, MSWord, MS Outlook, and Microsoft Office.
- Significant experience in institutional and corporate fundraising, development, or grant writing, preferably within a nonprofit or higher education setting.
- Demonstrated success in securing major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and institutional funding.
- Proficiency in CRM systems, donor databases, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling proposals and reports.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and build relationships with key stakeholders.
