Position Summary
The Volunteer and Engagement Coordinator is a part time permanent position that plays a coordinating role for the organization around volunteer management, training and cultivation. This position works with other staff to identify and create opportunities for volunteers to meaningfully engage in, and support, the mission of the organization. The position also assists in identifying and staffing outreach and engagement opportunities (i.e., events, tabling opportunities, action alerts, etc.) for the organization. This position reports to the Deputy Director.
Key Job Responsibilities
Volunteer Management – 50%
- Recruit and train volunteers and design ongoing learning opportunities that are engaging, educational and fostering a sense of community.
- Research and prioritize outreach opportunities for the organization to engage in.
- Coordinate with staff to maintain a volunteer calendar of organizational needs and coordinate staff/volunteers to fill those needs.
- Provide all volunteers with an orientation of our mission, best practices on public education, and the importance of their role.
- Institute ongoing creative recruitment of new volunteers.
- Develop and modify volunteer positions to respond to emerging needs.
- Develop and support leadership roles for volunteers.
- Coordinate and evaluate organizational volunteer engagement.
- Participate and staff organizational outreach opportunities as needed and available.
- Process and coordinate new organizational contacts (potential activist/donors).
Engagement – 40%
- Coordinate organizational efforts to staff and evaluate existing outreach needs —including Lunch & Learns, Brewshed events, conservation events and tabling opportunities — and identify new or improved opportunities based on key audiences articulated in the organization’s strategic plan.
- Work with conservation and other staff to develop program-centered activities and events to expand Washington Wild’s donor, activist, and supporter base.
- Provide support for conservation priorities and programs as needed.
- Attend and support the effective production of Washington Wild’s public programs events.
- As needed, attend and support other community functions and serve on coalitions as directed.
- Travel across the state may be occasionally required to attend and support outreach events and explore new opportunities.
Program and Administrative Support – 10%
- Pick up auction items, postcard boxes and other items as needed for Wild Night out and other outreach events.
- Do data entry of contact information from events, petitions, and post cards as needed.
- Support donor development efforts by generating reports from the database and sending personalized thank-you notes for recent contributions.

Other duties may be assigned as needed. This position involves extensive computer work and requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Candidates must possess a valid U.S. driver's license and be willing to drive as part of the job responsibilities.
Compensation
This is a part-time, non-exempt position with an hourly wage range of $25-$27 per hour. The role requires 20 hours of work per week. As a regular position, this role is eligible for Washington Wild benefits, including the opportunity to participate in our retirement savings program with a 3% match, vacation, holidays, and sick leave. Employees will also receive mileage reimbursement for work-related travel using a personal vehicle. Washington Wild offers a flexible work schedule within a hybrid model.
