Summary of Position: Assists the Healthy Aging Program Manager with daily operations delivering services to seniors throughout Mat-Su Valley. Promotes the Healthy Aging Program and activities to participants, supporters and potential participants/supporters. Fulfills basic administrative tasks and statistical data tracking. Travels to program delivery sites in the service area. Duties and work location will change as program develops.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Advocate and promote Healthy Aging programs to seniors and those who support them at service sites and when assisting the Program Manager at public presentations and Health Fairs.
- Become trained as a leader for evidence-based exercise classes and other evidence-based activities to assist/train volunteer leaders and act as backup when necessary.
- Assist the Program Manager with recruitment, orientation, and training of new fitness class leaders.
- Organizes leader/instructor trainings.
· Maintain accurate participant registration files.
· Maintain payment, attendance, and equipment records for all service sites.
· Gather and record data used for program reporting; enter into data systems.
- Ensures facilities used to deliver activities are safe, clean, functional and orderly
· Perform basic office administrative tasks, such as answer incoming calls, filing, etc.
· Other similar duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Employee must provide and maintain a valid State of Alaska driver’s license, clean driving record, and proof of insurance (or insurability).
- Must have experience working with the Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Must Pass (and remain eligible to pass) an Alaska Background Check
- Must Pass a Drug Test as assigned by WASI, and remain free of intoxicating or illegal substances at work.
- Ability to understand and monitor applicable regulations, policies and procedures.
- Attention to details, good verbal and written communication skills a must. (English proficient).

- Ability to understand and apply rules such as those related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) privacy policies and procedures.

· Ability to lead group exercise in a prescribed manner according to program requirements.
Skills and Abilities Preferred:
· Experience working with seniors
· Good interpersonal relationship skills
- CPR and First Aid – American Red Cross or equivalent according to AK rules

Physical demands: The work requires the intellectual abilities and a variety of physical capabilities needed to be a fitness class leader/instructor. Must be able to repeatedly lift 10lbs. Must be able to manipulate fine items with hands and fingers. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include far, close, and color vision. The employee must be able to hear normal sounds, communicate through speech. Significant time will be driving alone in a passenger vehicle.
Work environment: The work environment characteristics described are representative of those and employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Driving takes place during day and night, under a wide variety of weather conditions, and usually involves multiple short trips under one hour.
