Route Dispatcher

Sanitary Disposal, a Waste Connections company, is seeking a Route Dispatcher in Hermiston, OR.Working Schedule will be Monday-Friday 8am-4 : 30pm with Overtime often.Starting wage is $26.00 / HRAs a Route Dispatcher you need to be reliable, safety-minded, and committed to providing exceptional customer service. You should also be highly organized with strong time-management and prioritization skills. It is also important that you display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to establish and maintain professional and cooperative relationships with both customers and colleagues.Essential Duties : Develop routes for the following day based on orders received from Customer Service; assign routes to driversPrioritize same-day orders (from queue in staging area) to drivers, based on driver location and availabilityProvide print and electronic route schedules to drivers for planned and updated orders; follow up to ensure orders have been receivedDirect drivers to appropriate transfer stationsAnswer calls from drivers requesting pick-ups, and assign orders as appropriateCommunicate traffic problems (congestion, construction) to minimize avoidable delaysMonitor driver route progress (progress of orders) and driver location to ensure orders will be completed, as scheduled; re-assign or re-schedule as needed to meet service commitmentsVerify the nature of driver delays, (truck maintenance problem, traffic congestion, unscheduled breaks), and coordinate solutions where possible (dispatch mechanic to site)Communicate to drivers on changes in routes, or request for overtime hours; listen to and respond to drivers’Escalate concerns about driver performance (unscheduled breaks) to the supervisor (Operations or Route Supervisor)Contact customers to inform them of delays or missed pick-up; communicate revised timelines for pick-upsCall customers to inform them of on-site issues (blocked driveway) that need to be resolved for Waste Connections to complete pick-upRelay customer needs for increase or decrease to current level of service obtained from driver (insufficient containers) to Sales team to follow up re : changes to existing servicesEnter codes (dry run) on customer order to ensure correct billing informationClose out and finalize routes from previous day (generate reports for management)Requirements : 2-3 years of customer service / office admin experienceHigh-volume call center or inbound calling experiencePleasant demeanor over the phone and emailsExcellent time management and prioritization skillsStrong working knowledge of Microsoft Office,Strong written and oral communication skillsCritical and logical thinking skillsWhat we Offer : Full Time, Year-round stable workBonus IncentivePerformance-based career growth potentialMedical, dental, vision insurance plansIncome Protection Plans (Life Insurance, Short Term / Long Term Disability)401(k) with a generous company matchFlexible Spending AccountEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Emergency Travel AssistanceTo be considered for any of our current openings you must complete an application at www.wasteconnections.com .Application information and additional instructions can be found once you select your position of interest.We offer excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision, flexible spending account, long term & short-term disability, life insurance, 401K retirement and unlimited opportunities to "Connect with Your Future".Waste Connections is an equal opportunity employer.
