Position Overview:
The Engineering Technician will work in a temperature-controlled engineering lab, in partnership with engineers and other colleagues, to operate and test Waukesha engine assets from 400-5000HP. Responsibilities will include installation of test parts, set up, operation, recording data, and communication to others supporting the test. Your input will be used in developing new designs, performing durability testing of new components, and measuring the emissions output of our products. The lab is a collaborative environment with a common objective to develop class-leading products that enable a cleaner future through reduced emissions and improved engine performance.

Position Overview:

Responsibilities:
- Working in a collaborative engineering test environment
- Setting up and operate data acquisition and measurement equipment, exhaust emission measurement systems, and test instrumentation (training to be provided as needed)
- Set-up, calibration, operation, and repair of instrumentation equipment (hardware and software
- Support the planning and execution of automated testing in collaboration with others
- As a team, perform complex performance and durability tests on laboratory engines, components, and systems
- Collect measurement data, document, and communicate test results and information
- Disassembly, inspection, measurement and rebuilding of engine component parts and systems
- Preparing test and measurement fixtures and assemblies
- Fabricating and machine assemblies and components to requested requirements
- Maintaining a clean and orderly work area
- Ability to work in a team setting with a positive and professional attitude
- Lifting a maximum of 40 lbs.
- Associate of Applied Science degree in engine systems, mechanical technology, or closely related field (High school diploma or GED plus an additional 4 years’ experience as a lab technician may be substituted for associate degree)
- 3 years working in a lab technician role (electrical, computer and/or test cell)
- Demonstrated problem solving skills
- Organizational skills required to effectively handle and prioritize multiple tasks
- Ability to perform detail-oriented work
- Self-starter, quick learner, reliable, and punctual
- Flexible in work assignments, requiring minimal supervision
- Hands-on experience with engines, components, and technology
- Willing to think “outside the box” and enthusiastic to learn new things
- Familiarity or willingness to learn with welding / welding process (gas/MIG/TIG/etc)
- Experience or willingness to learn metal working tools, machines, and processes
- Knowledge of basic wiring circuits, ability to read wiring diagrams, and able to troubleshoot wiring issues
- Experience with natural gas engines, data acquisition systems, and/or emissions measurement
