JOB OBJECTIVE :
Administer all phases of the school’s operation and curricular offerings and supervise staff and students. The Principal is responsible for carrying out policies and directives of the School Board and District administration.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
Develop a school learning climate which supports the instructional efforts of the teaching staff through the District’s School Improvement process.Review job applications, interview applicants, and make recommendations for hiring staff.Maintain a continuous program of evaluation, both as to the efficiency of the personnel and the appropriateness of the program.Must be accessible to all employees to listen, encourage, and facilitate the daily operations of the building.Establish staff development for personnel pertaining to school procedures, policies, discipline, curriculum, and operations.Provide effective communication of the school programs.Prepare and administer the building budget and general office funds.Provide leadership to promote educational research and practices.Monitor national, state, and local student achievement results, as well as other school / student performance data.Implement Board Policies and administrative rules and regulations with fidelity.Organize articulation with the middle schools and elementary schools.Initiate, design, implement, and evaluate student activities and athletics consistent with the educational goals of the high school philosophy.Maintain school and student records in accordance with the Statutes of the State of Wisconsin and the policies of the Board of Education.Evaluate professional and non-professional staff.Oversee the SAT and IEP Teams.OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS :
Address student, parent, and public inquiries.Conduct faculty meetings and / or Department Chair meetings.Delegate authority to assistant principals to carry out duties and responsibilities in accordance with the job descriptions.Organize, supervise, and assist with special events to recognize student achievement such as academic awards, National Honor Society, senior awards, and graduation.Oversee the use of substitute teachers in the building.Work with the head custodian to monitor cleanliness and maintenance of facilities and grounds.Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or requested.WORKING CONDITIONS :
Exposure to conditions consistent with working in a school environment. At times, however, working outside in extreme weather conditions while supervising students, is required. Must be accessible to staff, students, parents, and others, which will require flexibility and adjusting to potentially stressful situations and frequent interruptions.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS :
Extensive knowledge of teaching methodologies and ability to provide assistance and instructional leadership to teachers.Knowledge of and skill in the application of all statutes, rules, regulations, case law, and School Board policies affecting student records, enrollment, discipline, employee records, hiring practices, working conditions, and contractual obligations.Knowledge of and skill in the application of computer use appropriate for maintaining student records, employee records, and correspondence.Demonstrated leadership and ability to work effectively with groups and individuals in a professional, amiable and courteous manner.Demonstrated skills in organization, communications, and problem-solving.Ability to complete all essential functions and goals as determined by the District.Ability to hold all information confidential.Strong organizational skills and ability to determine priorities.Ability to work with constant interruptions.Flexibility to deal with daily problems and requests.WORKING RELATIONSHIPS :
Students, parents, teachers, support staff, District administration and support staff, School Board and community members; other professionals in and out of the state.Supervises assistant principals, teachers, counselors, secretaries, aides, custodians, food service, nurses, special services, support staff, librarians, social workers, and psychologists.EDUCATION :
Required : Master’s degree in administration from an accredited college or university.
WOR EXPERIENCE :
Required : 3-5 years teaching / administrative experience.
Desired :
Experience working with high school aged children.Demonstrated successful experience in public school administration.Demonstrated knowledge of high school philosophy and practice.LICENSING :
Required : Wisconsin DPI Principal license and Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License.
