Position Summary
The HR Business Partner (HRBP) will serve as a strategic partner to leaders and employees in office and professional teams, including Sales, Production Management, and other professional departments. This role focuses on driving employee engagement, supporting organizational goals, and ensuring alignment of HR strategies across the Wisconsin and Michigan regions, as well as remote professionals.
The HRBP will work closely with Apogee Centers of Excellence (CoEs) and Shared Services teams to deliver solutions in areas such as recruitment, training, compensation, and employee relations. While this role does not take the lead in these functions, it is critical to partner effectively with internal teams to ensure the timely and successful delivery of HR services.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic HR Partnership
- Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement HR strategies that support business objectives.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to managers and employees, providing guidance on organizational design, workforce planning, and team effectiveness.
- Partner with Sales and other professional departments to address unique workforce needs, including commission structures, goal setting, and career development.
- Act as a change agent to drive cultural initiatives and promote alignment with organizational values.
- Collaboration with CoEs and Shared Services:
- Work in partnership with the Apogee CoEs and Shared Services teams to deliver solutions for recruitment, training, compensation, and other HR functions.
- Serve as a liaison between business leaders and CoEs to ensure alignment and understanding of business needs.
- Facilitate the implementation of programs and processes developed by CoEs, ensuring they are effectively applied within supported teams.
- Employee Relations and Engagement:
- Proactively address employee concerns and foster a culture of open communication and trust.
- Support managers in addressing performance issues and developing action plans for improvement.
- Mediate and resolve employee relations issues, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Partner with leaders to develop and implement strategies to enhance employee engagement and retention.
- Talent Management Support:
- Collaborate with CoEs to facilitate onboarding, training, and leadership development initiatives.
- Support managers in performance review processes by providing coaching and guidance.
- Partner with CoEs on succession planning and workforce development strategies.
- HR Operations and Compliance:
- Ensure HR policies and practices are consistently applied and compliant with applicable laws and regulations.
- Leverage HRIS tools for reporting and data analysis to inform business decisions.
- Provide insights into workforce metrics, including turnover, engagement, and productivity, to drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with corporate HR teams to ensure consistent application of company-wide initiatives and policies.
Qualifications
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an HR Business Partner role, with a focus on professional and office teams.
- Proven experience supporting Sales teams, including understanding commission structures, sales dynamics, and professional development needs.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus but not required.
- Certifications
- PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
- Skills
- Strong business acumen and ability to align HR strategies with business goals.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex employee relations issues with discretion and professionalism.
- Analytical skills to interpret HR data and provide actionable insights.
- Proficiency with HRIS tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
Work Conditions
- Environment
- Work is typically performed in an office setting, with regular visits to various work sites, including industrial or construction environments.
- Physical Demands
- May require standing, walking, and the ability to conduct site inspections in various weather conditions.
- Travel
- Occasional travel to Michigan, AFS locations, and Apogee headquarters in Minneapolis (up to 10%).
