Wayne County has a full-time opportunity for a Clerk I in Magisterial District Court 22-3-02 which is located in the Wayne County Courthouse in Honesdale. The daily office hours are 8:30-4:30 with 1 hour for lunch (35-hour week).
THE OFFICE: accepts documents for the filing of Civil and Landlord/Tenant Cases and Private Criminal Complaints. Law Enforcement Officers initiate filings by Criminal Complaint or Summary and Traffic Citations. The Magisterial District Judge also serves night duty per a rotation schedule to handle emergency PFA requests, Search Warrants, Arrest Warrants, Arraignments, and Bail.
THE DUTIES; Customer service, accurate and detailed entry of data into the MDJS (the state computer system). Scanning, scheduling, cash management, weekly/monthly reports for auditing. The applicant must be able to meet the deadlines specified by the Administrative Office of PA Courts. This busy office requires patient and courteous communication with the public, lawyers and their staff, law enforcement, state and municipal authorities.
Employee is subject to both county and court policy manuals and subject to supervision by the Magistrate and President Judge through court administration.
