C2 Pipeline Camp Counselor
Wayne State University is searching for an experienced C2 Pipeline Camp Counselor at its Detroit campus location.

Essential functions (job duties):
The Camp Counselor for the Wayne State C2 Pipeline assumes responsibility for high school students during our day camps. Collaboratively creates an environment which promotes academic, career and social development. Assists in generating a positive and nurturing atmosphere for students, while encouraging them to push their boundaries.
Implement experience-based icebreakers and lesson plans addressing social issues relevant to the lives of C2 Pipeline students.
Participate in activities; including meals, field trips and community service projects.
Serve as a role-model to students by displaying responsible behavior and personal integrity.
Attend and actively engage in staff training and professional development sessions.
Communicate program rules to students, ensuring safety and responsible student behavior.
Maintain a professional relationship with all student participants and staff, while upholding clear staff-student boundaries at all times.
Build and maintain a positive relationship with all C2 Pipeline and partnering organization stakeholders, e.g., site staff, parents, etc.
Complete tasks assigned by the C2 Admin team on a timely basis.
Facilitate appropriate implementation of program curriculum and resources.
Perform other duties, as assigned.
Unique duties:
Qualifications:
Education Bachelor's degree
Bachelor’s degree preferred, will consider completion of sophomore year of college with relevant experience as a camp counselor and/or working with high school age youth.
Experience Entry level (no prior job-related work experience)
Experience teaching and/or facilitating programs for high school age youth preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated effectiveness working with students from underrepresented backgrounds. Ability to form positive and professional relationships with ethnically and culturally diverse youth and staff. Demonstrates ethical and moral character. Willingness to be an active problem solver as unexpected challenges arise. Maintain open channels of communication with Camp Coordinator, Administration Team, Partners, and Mentors. Ability to give and receive constructive feedback. Ability to make sound and timely decisions in the interest of C2 Pipeline program mission and goals. CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
