What are the responsibilities and job description for the Landscape Designer position at Waynesboro Landscape and Garden Center?
Purpose and Scope: Waynesboro Landscape & Garden Center is an award-winning Landscape Architecture and Construction Company for residential, commercial, and municipal landscaping. Overseeing the installation, Landscape Designers are responsible for meeting with prospective clients and generating sales. From the initial inquiry, the design professional should be able to navigate the sales process from the first meeting to any after care from an installation. The Landscape Designer should be able to communicate effectively via phone and email, ensuring the operations arm and clients are always clear and in the know. The role will rely on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals and a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. This role will report directly to the Landscape General Manager and assist on various other tasks throughout the year.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP
The Landscape Design/Sales role will report to the Landscape General Manager.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education and Training: Degree in Landscape Design/Architecture (preferred)
Technical Requirements: Ability to obtain the Pesticide Applicator’s Certification within six months of employment.
Experience: Two years working with various aspects of landscape design for residential and commercial spaces (Preferred)
Additional Requirements: Valid Virginia driver’s license required along with an acceptable driving record as defined by our insurer, must have/pass acceptable criminal background check.
- PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to perform basic physical tasks normal to the landscaping industry, including but not limited to kneeling for extended periods, walking on uneven surfaces, climbing ladders, bending, crawling, lifting at least 50 lbs. and be able to work with arms above head level at times; must be able to work in hot and cold temperatures and in adverse weather and job site conditions. Must be able to perform basic tasks consistent with an office environment including but not limited to sitting at a desk for long periods of time, bending, crouching or kneeling to access files from ground level to 4.5 feet above the ground, pushing/pulling of file drawers, reaching in all directions and working at a computer and/or telephone for prolonged periods of time. The following capabilities are required but not limited to: able to see for purposes of reading instructions, labels and other printed matter; ability to operate computer hardware and peripheral devices; able to hear and understand speech at normal levels in person and/or on the telephone; able to communicate verbally so others will be able to clearly understand a normal conversation in person and/or on the telephone.
