Summer Intern -- Weaver Consultants Group
Weaver Consultants Group is seeking enthusiastic civil or environmental students to join our engineering team in offices across the country. As a Summer Intern you will take direction from and work beneath senior level staff. The ideal candidate for this position seeks a fast-paced, challenging environment, a place to grow and improve skills, and a collaborative environment that is conducive to the development of their personal skills.
We are looking for Summer Interns who are interested in design, installation, construction, monitoring, assessment, regulatory compliance, and operations and maintenance of environmental control and monitoring systems for landfills and transfer stations.
Responsibilities:
- Developing or revising permitting documents for solid waste management facilities (e.g., landfills, transfer stations and recycling facilities).
- Developing engineering design plans for grading, drainage, and site utility systems, including those for forcemains, leachate collection, landfill gas collection, storm water management and erosion/sediment control.
- Preparing technical reports for subjects like groundwater sampling and liner material testing.
- Providing assistance to project managers for landfill Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) projects. Duties will include assisting the project managers with:
- Proposal preparation and job registration, project setup and organization.
- Managing, reviewing, and organization of daily project data; and
- Preparation of final certification reports.
- Assisting with landfill design activities including preparation of construction drawings, project documents/specifications, and quantity calculations.
- On-site field CQA work will be required to cover peak demand and/or substitution during vacations emergencies, etc. The duration of these assignments will vary, and may require overnight stays.
- Construction observation and documentation.
- Effective communication with colleagues and superiors.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (Junior-Senior standing by Summer 2019).
- 2.75 GPA minimum preferred.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills to include proposal writing and reporting.
- AutoCAD Civil 3D experience is a plus.
- Experience with State and Municipal projects a plus.
- Previous civil or environmental engineering intern or co-op experience a plus.
- Flexible schedule for overtime.
- Some travel may be required.
- Valid Driver's license required.
