COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER & EVENTS COORDINATOR
The Weekapaug Yacht Club is seeking a mature, self-directed person to join our staff during the summer 2025 season for a full-time, hybrid position with 2 primary responsibilities:
- Manage member communications, including email and social media.
- Work with club management to help coordinate and execute our robust calendar of social events.
The ideal candidate will have excellent written communication skills, familiarity with basic graphic design work and experience with social media. You will be organized, customer-service-oriented and comfortable working in a fluid environment.
Your exact hours will vary depending on requirements, but some evening and weekend hours will be required to manage social events. We anticipate that some part-time, remote work will continue to be available in the off-season.

The Weekapaug Yacht Club
Weekapaug Yacht Club has a 130-year history of advancing the love of small-boat sailing and racing. We have more than a thousand active members, a thriving summer sailing program and a busy calendar of member social events.
Rebuilt in 2023, our club house is a state-of-the-art facility, with immediate access to the water, and dedicated spaces for member recreation, sailing program instruction / storage, and club employees. From the 2 floor decks, members and staff enjoy breathtaking views across both the ocean and beautiful Quonochontaug pond.
Job Responsibilities
- Utilize ClubSpot, Canva and other software programs to produce invitations, e-mails, social media stories and other forms of communication.
- Create & send weekly email updates to membership regarding Club events, news, policies etc.
- Manage the club social media accounts.
- Manage the various club mailing lists.
- Work with club management and the Events Committee to organize member social events.
- Select, book and manage vendors (liquor, food, lighting, glassware, furniture, music), working within event budgets.
- Manage event invitations and RSVPs.
- Work with club management and the Events Committee to direct all aspects of event execution (set-up through to take-down) including cleaning, decorating and staffing support.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Experience or demonstrable interest in marketing and/or communications.
- Technical aptitude, including proficiency in Google applications (Docs, Sheets, Slides), Canva, ClubSpot, Eventbrite.
- Experience in creating and posting social media content (Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook).
- Experience with events management and / or customer service.
- Highly organized with outstanding attention to detail.
- Mature, tenacious, collaborative spirit with a strong customer focus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Drivers license and a car to pick up supplies as needed.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 30 per week
Schedule:
- Weekends as needed
