Part-Time Position
Summary:
Assists with the safety, movement, and care of students while on a bus. Partners with assigned driver to provide appropriate transportation services for students.
Essential Duties:
- Assists the bus driver in managing student behaviors on the bus.
- Assists students with loading/unloading the school bus.
- Ensures responsible adults meet students leaving the bus.
- Assists driver in ensuring seat belts and safety restraint systems are secured as required.
- Provides written records of any incident that occurs on the bus to the supervisor.
- Is alert to conditions in the loading and unloading area which present a danger to students.
- Ensures students are appropriately secured on bus.
- Maintains current knowledge of emergency evacuation procedures.
- Assists the bus driver with cleaning and disinfecting the bus interior and with the removal of trash daily.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimal Education and Experience:
- Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read, write, and verbally communicate at a level necessary for successful jog performance.
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of ago
- One-year experience working with children preferred
- High school diploma required
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Demonstrates regular attendance and punctuality.
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with students, bus driver, parents, and school staff.
Ability to maintain order and behavior of children.
Ability to maintain a positive, calm demeanor while on the job.
