Description :
The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers.
They ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care.
Practice is conducted in a clinical environment supported through shared governance and a professional practice model.
The framework for practice is steered by evidence-based practice and research.
RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by organizational values.
It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses are licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the relevant Professional Nurse Practice Act.
They implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association.
As a member of the patient services team, it is expected to uphold the voice of the patient, system policies, and procedures while supporting service excellence goals.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions :
Perform the Nursing Process in clinical care using evidence-based practice.
Provide relationship-based patient-centered care that adapts service delivery to reflect an understanding of cultural diversity.
Partner with the patient and significant others using appropriate methods for communication and patient teaching.
Coordinate the delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care.
Demonstrate teamwork and collaboration in a fiscally responsible manner.
Participate in and support performance improvement, research, and shared governance activities.
Complete all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments.
Serve as a preceptor or mentor for other professional nurses and staff.
Promote Evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement.
Uphold all healthcare system / organizational policies and clinical competencies, including legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
Participate in data collection and use appropriate resources to address practice questions.
Plan proactively for the care of patients across the care continuum.
Participate in the development of protocols and procedures to achieve best practice outcomes.
Support efficient and effective use of human and material resources.
Comply with all organizational policies, standards of work, and the code of conduct.
