As the Geriatric Therapist you are supporting our elderly while they adjust to their new stages of life in a nursing home setting. This role will involve working with nursing home staff, client families and medical teams to ensure our clients with the most life experience are provided with the best support possible. This is a full time position working Monday - Friday , 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
What we're looking for:
- Masters’s degree in counseling, psychology or a related field
- Ability to perform group instruction & activities
- Good organizational & documentation skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients and/or referral sources
- Proficient writing skills
- Genuine respect and concern for the elderly
- Experience preferred working with the seriously mentally ill
- Effective planning skills
What you'll be doing:
- Conduct individual, group and/or family therapy to SMI population
- Provides mental health services in assigned nursing home
- Deliver direct clinical services
- Complete administrative and clinical paperwork
- Provide program support services
- Maintain Spirit, Quality, and Productivity expectations
- Manage time and caseload with minimal supervision
- Ability to work with Technician and nursing home staff to best meet the needs of the client and organization
- Work cooperatively with a treatment team
Specific Alabama Department of Health and CDC Nursing Home Requirements:
- Provide covid-19 vaccination status card (or proof of exemption status)
- Follow and wear PPE precautions if exempt from covid-19 vaccination, or whenever required
- Submit to periodic covid-19 rapid testing on site in nursing home whenever requested
- Submit to PCR testing for covid-19 as frequently as Alabama protocol demands
- Agree to accept the seasonal Flu Vaccine at the Nursing Home (or follow and wear PPE precautions set in place by the nursing home in lieu of the Flu Vaccine)
