Special Hiring Rate:
$74,490.00- Department of Health and Human Resources

Located in the Office of Epidemiology and Prevention Services, Division of STD, HIV, Hepatitis and Tuberculosis Elimination- The Epidemiologist 3 Serves as a member of Division Leadership as the Program Director of Viral Hepatitis Epidemiology and oversees the Viral Hepatitis Program for the State of West Virginia. This position oversees and manages the Viral Hepatitis Program by performing complex and highly specialized work assignments; ensuring the work of the team is carried out efficiently; supervising staff supporting viral hepatitis surveillance and epidemiology; managing viral hepatitis prevention and surveillance activities and the CDC hepatitis grant; establishing Viral Hepatitis Program priorities and resolving problems.

WV remains one of the states with the highest rates of hepatitis B and C in the nation. This position has a critical role of identifying strategies to mitigate the increase of viral hepatitis.

Located in Kanawha County. Other duties as assigned.

Training: A Doctorate degree from a regionally accredited college or university in epidemiology, public healthveterinary medicine, preventive medicine, medicine, biological, physicalbehavioral or environmental sciences including at least two courses in epidemiology covering additional epidemiology principles, methods and design concepts or at least two courses in statistical design and methods courses for the behavioral sciences, or at least two publications in two different peer-reviewed journals, and at least one course in biostatistics or other research-oriented statistics course; AND five years full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in epidemiology.
OR 
A Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in epidemiology, public health, nursingbiology, physical, behavioralnatural, or veterinary sciences, preventive medicine, or medicine including two courses in epidemiology and one course in biostatistics OR certification in infection control (CIC); AND ten years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional experience in epidemiology, including five years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional experience in management of an epidemiological program.
Substitution: Completion of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Epidemic Intelligence Service or public health prevention specialist training; AND five years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional experience can substitute for the required training.

  Five (5) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as an Epidemiologist within the Department of Health and Human Resources, two (2) of which must be in the Epidemiologist 2 classification, may substitute for the required training.

Salary : $58,329 - $103,488
