Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Human Resources Generalist to join our dynamic HR team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting various HR functions, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, and fostering a positive workplace culture. This position requires a proactive individual who can manage multiple tasks efficiently while contributing to the overall success of the organization.
This position is 37.5 hours per week with a pay rate of $25/hour. The anticipated start date is January 6, 2025. Westbay offers a generous benefits package including 3 weeks paid vacation, 10 sick days, 2 personal days, 14 paid holidays plus a paid day off on your birthday!
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field
- 2-3 years of recent human resource experience in a generalist role, including recruitment, onboarding, and benefits administration
- Strong understanding of HR processes, best practices, legal compliance, and regulatory requirements related to HR functions, including Title VII, ERISA, NLRA, FMLA, FLSA, ADA, etc.
- Proficient in MS Office and Google platforms
- Leadership and supervisory experience required
- Pass a BCI check
Duties
- Assist in providing advisory and consultancy support to staff and management on a range of human resources issues, procedures, and policies
- Assist with implementing and disseminating policies set in the Employee Handbook. Ensure employees are informed of updates and changes
- Maintain and update a written procedures manual for all HR functions. Ensure compliance with federal and state employment regulations and stay current on new HR development
- Assist in recruiting efforts, including identifying effective recruitment strategies, conducting interviews, performing background checks, and coordinating new hire onboarding
- Assist with benefits enrollment, changes, and troubleshooting
- Coordinate and track the performance review process, ensuring timely completion by managers and employees
- Serve as the point of contact for workers' compensation claims and status reporting. Provide guidance to employees on workers' compensation policies and procedures
- Participate in employee engagement activities, wellness initiatives, and safety efforts. Assist with the employee recognition program and other efforts to foster a positive workplace culture
- Maintain I-9 forms, complete e-verify, conduct audits, and ensure timely purging of outdated forms
- Maintain personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements and ensure the protection of confidential employee information
- Provide payroll and personnel information to employees and employers as required. Assist with the reconciliation of monthly benefits invoices
- Prepare and provide accurate and timely reports, surveys, and plans as required/requested
- Provide comprehensive support to the HR Manager in all tasks as needed
