Job Description Summary :

The Supply Technician Lead oversees and performs a wide range of technical supply management tasks within the Supply Support Activity (SSA) under the direct supervision of the SSA Supervisor. This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing inventory management, storage management, cataloging, property utilization, and other supply-related functions. The Supply Technician Lead serves as the primary point of contact for ensuring compliance with Army supply systems, policies, and procedures, while providing leadership and technical expertise to other supply personnel.

The role requires a deep understanding of Army logistics systems, hazardous material (HAZMAT) management, quality control procedures, and supply chain policies. The incumbent will ensure operational efficiency, compliance with performance requirements, and mission readiness, working collaboratively with internal teams, military units, and external partners.

This position involves both indoor administrative tasks and outdoor operations, including the handling of hazardous materials, operation of Material Handling Equipment (MHE), and surge support to various Army units and operational areas. The Supply Technician Lead plays a critical role in ensuring the efficiency, accuracy, and compliance of SSA operations. This position provides leadership, technical expertise, and operational support to maintain readiness and sustainment of Army missions.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Serve as the lead for the Supply Technicians, assigning daily tasks, managing workloads, and providing technical guidance.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise SSA staff in supply management processes, HAZMAT handling, and the use of supply systems.
  • Coordinate with the SSA Supervisor to prioritize and allocate resources effectively to meet mission requirements.
  • Perform and oversee supply management functions, including requisitioning, receiving, storing, issuing, inventorying, redistributing, and turning in materials.
  • Conduct quality control checks on all supply transactions and ensure the accuracy of data entry within automated systems such as GCSS-A, LIW, AESIP, and FMSWeb.
  • Monitor supply levels for hazardous materials, submit procurement requests, and ensure proper labeling, packaging, and storage of HAZMAT in compliance with regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with Department of Defense (DOD), Army, and local regulations, including safety, environmental, and physical security requirements.
  • Perform regular cyclic, sensitive item, and physical inventories to maintain 100% accountability of all SSA assets.
  • Reconcile discrepancies between physical inventory and system records, preparing detailed reports as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all Army supply chain policies, including AR 710-2, AR 735-5, and DA PAM 710-2-1.
  • Utilize and maintain proficiency in logistics systems such as GCSS-A, LIW, AESIP, and FMSWeb for supply chain management.
  • Analyze supply data to identify trends, discrepancies, or inefficiencies, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare detailed reports on supply operations, inventory levels, and performance metrics for management review.
  • Review hazardous materials documentation, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and Army regulations.
  • Label, package, and store hazardous materials safely, adhering to guidelines and using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Stay updated on hazardous material regulations and implement changes as required.
  • Provide surge support to unit holding areas, motor pools, and administrative offices as required.
  • Operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE) and ensure personnel are trained and certified for MHE operations.
  • Perform housekeeping duties to maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the SSA Supervisor to support overall mission success.

Requirements :

Minimum Requirements :

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in supply chain, logistics, or warehouse operations, preferably in a military or DOD environment.
  • At least 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience in supply operations.
  • Material Handling Equipment (MHE) certification or ability to obtain certification within 90 days.
  • Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) handling certification (preferred).
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Valid State driver’s license.
  • Ability to pass background checks and obtain required clearances when applicable.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Proficiency in Army logistics systems, including : Global Combat Support System–Army (GCSS-A) Logistics Information Warehouse (LIW); Army Enterprise Systems Integration Program (AESIP); Force Management System Web (FMSWeb)
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Strong understanding of Army supply chain policies, regulations, and procedures, including AR 710-2, AR 735-5, and DA PAM 710-2-1.
  • Knowledge of hazardous material handling, packaging, and storage requirements.
  • Familiarity with quality control processes and inventory management best practices.
  • Physical Requirements :

  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing 50 lbs.
  • Capable of performing tasks involving bending, stooping, squatting, climbing, and reaching.
  • Willingness to work in diverse environments, including indoor and outdoor settings, with exposure to heat, dust, cold, and inclement weather.
