Position Summary The Truss Shop Lead will oversee the daily operations of the truss shop, ensuring efficient production, adherence to safety standards, and high-quality output. This role is critical in supporting Western’s mission by maintaining excellence in production and empowering the team to meet and exceed performance goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and Team Management
- Supervise, mentor, and motivate truss shop team members to achieve daily and weekly production goals.
- Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, updates, and company expectations.
- Foster a culture of excellence and accountability, aligned with Western’s values.
- Production Oversight
- Plan and manage the daily production schedule to ensure on-time delivery of high-quality trusses.
- Operate and oversee the use of truss manufacturing equipment, including the truss table, truss press, and other tools.
- Perform quality checks to ensure compliance with industry and company standards.
- Safety and Compliance
- Enforce safety protocols and ensure all team members adhere to safety guidelines.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and report any issues or potential hazards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with the Production Manager, other shop leads, and purchasing to coordinate materials and resources.
- Communicate progress, challenges, and needs to management in a timely manner.
- Ensure all team members are informed of updates to production plans or company policies.
- Training and Development
- Train new and existing team members on equipment, processes, and safety protocols.
- Identify opportunities for team skill development and recommend training programs.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in truss manufacturing or a similar production environment.
- Leadership experience, with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
- Strong knowledge of truss construction processes, tools, and equipment.
- Commitment to maintaining safety and quality standards.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot production issues and implement solutions efficiently.
