Job Summary

Western Carolina Rescue Ministries (WCRM), a faith-based nonprofit organization, is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Development and Events Assistant to support our efforts in promoting the mission, engaging donors, and coordinating events. This full-time, in-person position will assist with marketing strategies, donor engagement, social media management, and fundraising initiatives to further our mission of providing Rescue, Recovery, and Restoration in Jesus’ name to each individual or family served by WCRM.

Responsibilities and Duties

Marketing and Communications

  • Assist in creating and implementing marketing campaigns to promote WCRM's programs, services, and events.
  • Manage social media accounts, including planning and posting content, responding to comments, and increasing engagement.
  • Capture and edit photos and videos of events, volunteers, and mission activities for marketing materials.
  • Create promotional materials, including flyers, newsletters, and email campaigns.
  • Monitor and report on the performance of digital and social media campaigns.

Donor Engagement

  • Help write thank-you letters, prepare donation receipts, and maintain donor communication to build relationships.
  • Assist in identifying and cultivating donor prospects.
  • Develop creative ways to recognize and appreciate donors, such as social media shoutouts and personalized messages.

Event Coordination

  • Collaborate with the Chief Development Officer to plan and execute fundraising events such as the Light Up the Night 5K, Perfect Love Gala, Love is Not Afraid of the Dark, and other initiatives.
  • Assist with special events at the Mission, including the Good Friday Foot Care Clinic, Holiday Banquets, and Coats for the Cold initiatives.
  • Coordinate logistics for events, including marketing, securing sponsorships, and managing on-site operations.
  • Build relationships with local businesses and community leaders to secure event sponsorships and partnerships.

Administrative Support

  • Maintain accurate records of donors, sponsorships, and event participation.
  • Support the development team with administrative tasks, including scheduling, communication, and reporting.
  • Assist in preparing reports on fundraising and marketing efforts.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certifications in marketing, communications, or nonprofit management is a plus.
  • Experience:
  • Previous experience in marketing, donor relations, or nonprofit work is preferred.
  • Proficiency with social media platforms, content creation tools, and donor management systems is a plus.
  • Skills:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creative and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Proficiency in graphic design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for community engagement.

Work Environment

This position requires in-person attendance at Western Carolina Rescue Ministries and may include occasional evenings or weekends to accommodate events or marketing needs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
