Job Overview:
We are seeking a Shipping and Receiving Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented while ensuring products are shipped and received according to bill of lading and packing slips. The incumbent will create a safe and organized work environment that allows for the efficient flow of materials and products into and out of the organization. Under the direct supervision of the Shipping Supervisor, this individual will receive, store and issue materials as needed. This individual collaborates with management and manufacturing personnel ensuring an excellent product to the customer.
Duties:
- Examine shipment contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy.
- Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, or recordkeeping purposes.
- Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders, to route materials.
- Confer or correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications.
- Pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for shipping, using hand tools, power tools, or postage meter.
- Contact carrier representatives to make arrangements or to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials.
- Deliver or route materials to departments using hand truck, forklift, or sorting bins.
- Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock.
- Determine shipping methods, routes, or rates for materials to be shipped.
- Coordinate truck scheduling with Plant Manager and Office Manager or their designee.
- Compute amounts, such as space available, shipping, storage, or demurrage charges, using computer or price list.
- Compare shipping routes or methods to determine which have the least environmental impact
- Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors.
- Keep record of and dispose of damaged or defective items or return them to vendors.
- Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Prepare and maintain records and reports of inventories, price lists, shortages, shipments, expenditures, and goods used or issued.
- Responsible for daily forklift and hand truck maintenance checks requesting maintenance and retraining as needed.
- Responsible for coordinating the safety program. This includes ensuring MSDS sheets are updated, and weekly safety material is circulated.
- Safely and efficiently create a work environment that enables an efficient flow of materials and products into and out of the facility. Responsible for performing all work tasks in a safe manner and in accordance with organizational safety policies and requesting maintenance as needed.
- Required to be a team player and collaborate with various departments to meet customer satisfaction.
