Job Description
Title: Fleet and Safety Coordinator
Location: Missoula, MT
Compensation: $23/hour DOE, 32-40 hours per week

The primary function of this position is to coordinate and oversee WMGC’s Fleet Management and Occupational Safety programs. This is a key position and requires an individual who is diplomatic, timely, and believes in our mission. Additionally, this individual should be able to communicate effectively with various groups including producers, drivers, warehouse staff, management, and vendors to ensure the successful operation of WMGC’s vehicle fleet and prevent on-the-job injuries. This position requires a safety-first, highly organized, and detail-oriented individual. Some off-hour on-call duties are required. Other occasional duties may include assisting with truck loading and unloading, warehouse tasks, and delivery driving; and therefore requires an individual who can lift heavy boxes of up to 75 lbs. and work on their feet. A valid MT Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License is required.
Primary Goals for this Job
- Maintain healthy, working relationships with the management team, delivery drivers, warehouse and sales staff, producers, and third-party service providers.
- Coordinate and maintain a Fleet Management Program for WMGC vehicles
- Coordinate and maintain an organization-wide Occupational Safety Program for WMGC
- Conduct new driver training and refreshers
- Conduct Safety Training and refreshers for all employees
- Conduct CDL training with WMGC drivers
- Maintain regulatory compliance for all WMGC vehicles.
- Facilitate timely communication between the management team, growers, drivers, and vendors
- Maintain scheduled availability as a point of contact for delivery drivers
Specific Tasks and Responsibilities may include:
- Meet regularly with operations and management teams to relay fleet and safety information
- Schedule truck maintenance, repair, and cleaning and ensure their completion
- Inspect trucks and review driver notes to address truck problems
- Maintain regulatory compliance with the Department of Transportation and any other necessary agency.
- Review driver safety performance using GPS tools and engage with drivers as necessary
- Ensure Operation team is aware of truck repairs and out of service notifications.
- Conduct Occupational Safety training with all new employees and conduct annual refresher training
- Conduct quarterly safety reviews with all drivers and warehouse staff.
- Communicate with WMGC’s vehicle insurance carrier to ensure accurate vehicle coverage
- Respond to drivers’ in-route issues that may occur outside normal hours
- Liaise with Operations team to optimize activities and promote a culture of safety.
- Work with Operations Manager to ensure regulatory compliance
- Maintain a clean driving record
- Cross-train with delivery drivers and the warehouse manager
- Attend staff meetings as scheduled
- Reports to Operations Manager
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in logistics, safety, fleet management, or a similar field
- Valid Class A or B Montana Commercial Driver License
- Strong Communication Skills
- Proficiency in web navigation and applications
- Strong leadership, motivation, and managerial skills
- Ability to manage time effectively and adapt quickly to changing priorities and circumstances
- General working knowledge of delivery trucks and traffic regulations.
- Keen attention to details
- Knowledge of western Montana cities preferred
- Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred
