THE BASICS
Pay:
- $26 - $28 an hour
Schedule:
- Monday – Friday 8 am - 5 pm
- Option for a Friday WFH after 90 days

YOUR TYPICAL DAY AS A PAYROLL SPECIALIST
A day in the life of a Payroll Specialist involves meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time. You review and process time sheets, verify hours worked, and check for errors in calculations or coding, making any necessary corrections. Maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local wage laws is key as you update records for tax withholdings, insurance coverage, direct deposits, and deductions. You're also responsible for processing garnishments, auditing payroll data, and troubleshooting discrepancies to resolve issues efficiently. Regularly preparing reports on earnings, taxes, and deductions is part of your accounting routine, along with assisting in year-end reporting and W-2 processing during tax season. Confidentiality is crucial as you carefully handle sensitive employee information while ensuring payroll operations run smoothly and accurately.
REQUIREMENTS FOR OUR PAYROLL SPECIALIST
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field
- Prior experience in payroll processing, bookkeeping, or HR administration
- Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., ADP, QuickBooks, Paycom) and Microsoft Excel
- Thorough understanding of federal, state, and local wage laws, tax regulations, and employment tax laws
- Experience with payroll processing or relevant financial/HR functions
- Attentiveness to detail, leading to payroll errors and discrepancies.
- Ability to handle confidential employee data responsibly
