ROLE
WHC – A Surerus Murphy Company (WHC), is seeking to recruit a Director of Quality Control. This pivotal role works to ensure the company's brand and reputation remains highly regarded, based on exceptional work quality. This position is responsible for developing and effectively implementing a Quality Management System (QMS), while providing leadership to enhance the culture of quality within WHC Energy Services. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of pipeline/facility construction in the oil and gas industry. They will also be able to interpret engineering design drawings, isometric drawings, scope of work, specifications, and work procedures, and condense them into a manageable document for communication with our field personnel.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement and communicate the company’s QMS and ensure compliance at a field level.
- Ensure quality plan and objectives are aligned-with QMS and Quality Assurance processes and parameters.
- Work closely with the Director of Risk, Assurance & Compliance to ensure alignment, identify areas of improvement and close out of CAPA’s (Corrective Actions/Preventive Actions) in a timely manner.
- Coordinate and facilitate quality improvement techniques to resolve critical quality problems and issues.
- Ensure quality-related information, support and materials are available to foster quality growth, knowledge, and quality behavior.
- Provide direction, support, awareness programs, and quality training resources to ensure ongoing compliance with processes and procedures.
- Develop and maintain robust Inspection and Test Plans (ITP's) for all phases of construction to include, but not limited to; welding, coating, electrical, hydrostatic testing, materials management, calibration, and work procedures, subcontracted work (NDT, HDD, concrete etc.).
- Support the development of quality control processes and communicate corrective actions as applicable.
- Develop and mentor Quality teams as needed by analyzing and identifying any gaps within various business sectors.
- Active engagement and leadership with industry groups (INGAA, API, etc.) to ensure we remain abreast of emerging quality standards and initiatives.
- As required and when necessary, work in the field as a lead Quality Control Coordinator.
Note: In addition to these duties personnel are required to carry out such other duties as may be reasonably required in order to support the objectives of the company.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field is preferred.
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) designation is required.
Experience
- Experience in working within an ISO-based Quality Management System.
- Experience in the deployment of a company-wide strategy and key performance indicators (KPI’s) around Quality Management.
- Thorough understanding and proven experience in the sequence of pipeline and facility construction.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is office-based and can be located at one of our core offices in Broussard, LA or The Woodlands, TX. Some travel to project sites and other locations is expected ( /-40%).
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Director of Quality Control reports to the Executive Vice President, HSEQ.
