What are the responsibilities and job description for the Spanish Community Liaison position at White Oak Library District?
The White Oak Library District, serving the communities of Crest Hill, Lockport, and Romeoville, Illinois, is seeking a Spanish Community Liaison to help connect library services to our Spanish speaking residents. This is a full time position (40 hours per week) with a competitive salary and benefits package. Selected candidate will work with the Director and management team to attract and retain Spanish speaking patrons from across the District.
Minimum qualifications: Applicants must be bi-lingual (completely fluent in both English and Spanish) and have some experience with English to Spanish translation, marketing, and event promotion. Must also be comfortable providing outreach out in the community, attending events, speaking in front of large groups of people, and building bridges between outside organizations and the library. Applicants must be willing and able to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish via telephone, email, and other forms of verbal and written communication.
A fully completed bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study is preferred but not required. Experience with desktop publishing, digital design, and image editing software is a plus. A general familiarity with public libraries and how they work is preferred.
Position reports directly to the library Director. Applicants will also be required to travel between our facilities as needed. Salary range begins at $23.00 per hour and increases commensurate with performance.
