Optician/Receptionist
White Salmon Eyecare is seeking a part-time (20 hrs/wk) OR full-time (40hrs/wk) optician to become part of our eyecare team! This is an entry level position with opportunity for growth. We are a full service eye clinic helping patients of all ages providing routine eye care for glasses and contacts as well as medical eye care. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with people and is open to learning new skills!
Job Duties:
- Greets patients with a warm welcome
- Verifies and explains vision and medical insurance benefits
- Explores the needs and priorities of patients by asking open-ended questions
- Gathers information about what patients need and provides recommendations for lenses and frames that fit those needs
- Takes and records measurements for prescription lenses
- Verifies that eyewear meets written prescription and ANSI standards
- Adjusts glasses to fit comfortably on patients
- Anticipates problems and strives to develop solutions with the help of coworkers
- Prioritizes tasks appropriately to provide quality patient care
- Assists coworkers with difficult or complex product needs or patient problems
- Trains and educates patients about contact lenses and dispenses contact lenses
- Calculates and collects patient payments based on insurance benefits
- Takes pride in clinic appearance and shows initiative to keep the building clean, attractive, and organized
- Possesses a "can do" spirit and is self-motivated for continual learning and improvement
- Embraces new technology and changes that improve our processes
- Participates in the team environment by being willing to help coworkers
- Additional duties may be assigned as needed! We are a small team working together to provide the best patient care possible.
Skills Required:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Strong customer service skills
- Familiarity with POS and computers
- Basic math skills
- Good communication and listening skills
- Attention to detail
Preferred Skills:
- Bilingual (Spanish/English)
- Previous customer service experience
- Previous experience working in an office environment
- One year or more years of optician experience
Physical Abilities:
- Work duties involve the need to sit, stand, walk, and stoop/bend to patient eye-level when they are seated
- Occasional lifting up to 35lbs
- Use keyboard and phone system
Location: 950 E Jewett Blvd White Salmon, WA 98672
Office Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
