What are the responsibilities and job description for the Middle Office and Risk Director position at WhiteWater Midstream?
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide daily PnL and commodity position reports to trading desk and management team and provide meaningful explanations for significant changes in economic value
- Ensure all commercial transactions and related risks are appropriately captured by the Company’s risk systems to ensure effective downstream reporting of value and exposure
- Liaise with Front Office & Finance teams to develop pricing and valuation models for structured commodity transactions
- Independently verify all forward curves marked by the Front Office
- Assess open positions against internal market risk limits and communicate potential violations
- Assist the Finance group with the assessment of market liquidity associated with all open positions
- Perform routine VaR analyses and pricing stress tests to further support market risk oversight
- Reconcile commodity clearing account daily and forecast potential variation margin exposures in various pricing scenarios
- Assist with special projects, such as: technology initiatives; reporting system improvements and automation solutions
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, or similar
- 10 years’ experience in either commodity Middle Office or Risk Management functions, with at least 5 years of supervisory experience
- Deep understanding of wholesale natural gas and power trading
- Deep understanding of Texas intrastate natural gas markets and ERCOT power markets
- Sufficient understanding of both physical and financial commodity market mechanics
- Working knowledge of quantitative risk management models and methodologies
- Experience with trading and risk management systems required
- Experience supporting system implementation projects is preferred
- Advanced Excel proficiency including VBA and MS PowerQuery required
- Advanced knowledge of MS/SQL required
- PYTHON experience preferred, but not required
- Communication and Teamwork skills required: Candidate must possess excellent interpersonal skills and effectively collaborate with others to optimize team success
- Must be comfortable working remotely from the office if required
