This position will involve leading traffic studies, analysis and/or designs for transportation projects. Candidates must demonstrate a high-level understanding of traffic operations and/or traffic design, identify and develop creative technical solutions, and exercise excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills. Oversight, mentorship, and management support of traffic staff will be essential to delivering assignments on-time. Candidates must have the ability to be highly responsive to clients.
Responsibilities:
Project assignments can range from small-scale intersection improvements to complex interchanges and corridors. Specific assignments would include traffic operations modeling, simulations, capacity analysis, safety studies, transportation planning studies, travel demand modeling and forecasting, and design of traffic control devices including signals, signing, pavement markings, ITS devices and lighting.
Our clientele includes a wide range of state and local agencies, including VDOT and numerous Virginia localities.
Requirements:
- BSCE with a minimum of 10 years experience in traffic engineering
- Licensed as a PE (VA registration desired)
- High-level understanding of traffic modeling (macro, meso, and micro); experience in model development and application
- Experience with VISSIM, VISUM, HCS, Synchro/SimTraffic, SIDRA
- Experience in the design of traffic control devices including signals, signing, pavement markings, ITS devices and lighting
- Experience working with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD
- Exceptional communication, technical writing, presentation, and organizational skills
- Positive attitude and willingness to work cooperatively with others
- Experience in the development of proposals for new assignments
- Experience in project management and contract management
