MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES OF JOB:
- Plans machining by studying work orders, Verifies blueprints, materials, specifications, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- Sets-up lathes/mills by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, and compensation; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving first part.
- Sets-up lathes/mills by adjusting collets, three-jaw chucks, and/or vise jaws, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, stops, and stock pushers or pullers.
- Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces; adhering to WIKA standards.
- Maintains specifications by observing CNC tools, sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions.
- Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
- Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Assist mechanics and machinists in repair work.
- Performs ancillary duties as required
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- 2-4 years previous experience on lathe and mill machines and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- HSD or GED required
- Have worked with Metal CNC machines required
- Experience machining multiple parts is required
- Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
- Be able to work overtime if required. (including weekends)
- Skills in reading blueprints and basic math skills
- Basic knowledge of machine tool repair and maintenance preferred
- Fundamental knowledge of metal cutting and machining practices
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand for the duration of the shift
