Marina Attendant

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age
• Must have a valid Virginia Driver’s License or ability to obtain within the first 30 days of hire, in addition to a satisfactory driving record
• Friendly, outgoing, reliable and punctual
• Professional appearance and attitude at all times
• Responsible, safety conscious, and detail oriented
• Knowledge of or experience with Jon Boats, Electric Trolling Motors, Paddle Boats, Kayaks, Stand-Up Paddle Boards
• Knowledge of basic math; ability to handle money with accuracy
• Requires good communications skills; capacity to understand/follow oral and written orders
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Self-motivated with the ability to work without supervision
• Available to work a combination of weekdays, weekends, and holidays: daytime or evening
• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations

Focus

Tasks, Duties

• Perform tasks as directed by the on Marina Supervisor, Assistant Recreation Director, or Recreation Director
• Assist guests in rental of equipment at Marina or Beach
• Ensure guests are properly filling out liability forms needed to participate in desired activity
• Handling money and making correct change for rentals or redeeming online vouchers
• Learning and using our point of sale system to enter participation/rental statistics and online vouchers
• Comfortable instructing guests on Marina rules, safely using the equipment
• Assist in maintaining cleanliness of the Marina/Beach and surrounding area as needed
• Maintain equipment and its cleanliness by following safety protocols
• Transport equipment with boat trailer if needed
• Interact in a professional and courteous manner while supervising youth and adults participating in activities
• Receiving and resolving guest complaints
• Handle minor maintenance issues as they arise at the facility
• Performs other duties as requested

Communication/Team Involvement

• Communicate with team members to increase productivity
• Alert Supervisor/Assistant Recreation Director to any issues that may require attention
• Provide assistance to the on duty shift supervisor, Assist Recreation Director and the Recreation Director as needed
• Participate in the feedback loop that includes staff members at all levels to underscore the resort's team-oriented culture
• Requires good communications skills both orally and written; capacity to understand and follow oral and written orders
• Ability to provide a great customer experience; resolve customer inquiries and complaints in a timely manner; ability to handle reasonably necessary stress
• Ability to accept and adjust to constructive criticism
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, supervisors, and public

Physical Requirements:

• Tasks require thorough perception and judgement
• Tasks involve physical effort, i.e. standing, walking, and frequent light lifting (5-10 lbs.); somewhat frequent heavy lifting (20-80 lbs.); frequent heavy pulling/pushing (200 lb.) of 14’ aluminum Jon Boats in and out of the water; minimal dexterity in the use of fingers, limbs, or body in the operation of shop or office equipment.
• Some tasks may involve extended periods of sitting, standing and walking
• Ability to work in an outdoor setting daily for an extended period
