What are the responsibilities and job description for the Firefly Host/Server position at Wilderness Resort?
SUMMARY: A server takes guests food and beverage orders and input orders into computers for transmittal to kitchen staff. The server is to ensure superior customer service, assist wait staff and management with various service tasks, including but not limited to bussing tables and ensuring total cleanliness throughout the restaurant.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
Check all patrons’ identification to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages. Do not serve any alcohol to a person under the age of 21
Collect payments from customers
Write patrons’ food orders on order slips, memorize orders, or enter orders into computers for transmittal to kitchen staff
Take orders from patrons for food or beverages
Check with customers to ensure that they are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems
Serve food or beverages to patrons, and prepare or serve specialty dishes at tables as required
Prepare checks that itemize and total meal costs and sales taxes
Remove dishes and glasses from tables or counters, and take them to the kitchen for cleaning
Answer questions about menu items, making recommendations upon request
Inform customers of daily specials
Attempt to limit problems and liability related to customers’ excessive drinking by taking steps such as persuading customers to stop drinking, or ordering taxis or other transportation for intoxicated patrons.
Wash hands on a frequent basis to ensure cleanliness of the Food & Beverage operations
All other duties as assigned by management
LANGUAGE SKILLS: (Level 1) Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: (Level 1) Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY: (Level 1) Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
