Wiley University is seeking applicants for Groundskeeper/Maintenance. The successful candidate will contribute to the mission of Facilities Maintenance, which is to provide a high quality and conducive physical environment that is clean, attractive and aesthetically pleasing and that supports the learning, teaching, public service, safety and health concerns of the campus community. This will be accomplished by delivering complete building and grounds maintenance services in a cost effective and proactive manner. Groundskeepers/Maintenance workers perform a variety of grounds and maintenance duties involving college buildings and offices.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operates light mechanized equipment and participate in a variety of grounds keeping tasks in support of campus construction and grounds maintenance projects.
- Cuts lawn using power mower.
- Services and maintains equipment as required.
- Picks up trash and debris from campus grounds, streets, walks and parking areas.
- Trims and edges walkways, flower beds and walls using clippers and edging tools.
- Prunes shrubs and hedges to shape and improve growth.
- Rakes and removes leaves and debris; cleans drainage ditches and culverts; haul debris to dumping areas; and assist in removing trees.
- Sprays lawns, shrubs and trees with fertilizers, or insecticides as directed.
- Participates in the servicing, maintenance and repair of small equipment as required.
- Plants, cultivates, fertilizes and waters trees, flowers, shrubs and grass.
- Assists in the pouring of concrete and the maintenance of walkways and parking areas.
- During inclement weather conditions, assists with general custodial duties.
- Performs other related duties AS ASSIGNED.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED at minimum.
