THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN OUR SANTA CLARITA, CA HEADQUARTERS/SOCAL DIVSION OFFICE. THIS IS NOT REMOTE.SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:
The Staff Accountant supports projects in various stages of development by assisting in tracking milestones, draws, invoices, etc. Staff Accountant will be in near-constant touch with the project management team, banks, investors, partners, etc. A vital part of this role is the creation and submission of construction bank draws for projects from the beginning stages of development through construction build-out.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Prepare and submit monthly construction/funding draws to banks, equity investors or partners, providing all back up.
- Communicate with bank reps, title companies, and lenders regarding status of funds.
- Reconcile and prepare support needed for journal entries for inter-company activity.
- Attend and participate in monthly budget job cost meetings.
- Maintain appropriate recurring and reversing journal entries, accruals, and prepaid schedules where necessary.
- Coordinate between various departments including operations, general accounting, Forward Planning and Acquisition teams to answer questions and escalate items up to Project Accountants.
- Ensures compliance with corporate accounting policies and procedures.
- Assists in internal and external audits, and other special projects as assigned.
Requirements
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- BS/BA degree in accounting, finance, or economics preferred.
- 3-4 years of accounting experience required.
- Strong computer aptitude to include accounting software (Newstar a plus) intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word (Pivot Table/VLookup/HLookup/Links).
- Self-starter, analytical and detail oriented and team player. Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to manage a heavy and evolving workload independently and successfully.
- Attention to details, good organizational skills, and ability to perform efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
- Experience with construction draws, AIA documents and forms, pay apps, etc.
