Platform Tennis Professional
Job Summary: The Platform Tennis Professional is responsible for assisting the Racquet Sports Supervisor in the operation, programming, maintenance, and planning for the Wilmette Platform Tennis Club.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None
Overall Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Market and develop existing and new platform tennis programming, memberships, camps, special events and pro shop sales
- Teach group lesson students the fundamentals of platform tennis
- Write lesson plans which clearly identify objectives and designate drills and activities to reach those goals
- Maintain accurate records of attendance
- Submit completed timesheets by the end of each pay period
- Handle conflicts between players on the court
- Oversee in-house leagues and drop-in programs
- Develop relationships with groups and organizations in the platform tennis industry
- Provide and promote exceptional service to all customers
- Promote a positive, supportive environment internally between platform tennis staff and other Park District employees
- Work cordially with patrons and fellow employees
- Promote teamwork to provide a positive and professional work environment
- Actively support the agencys risk management protocol that will effectively control and reduce accidents
- Obey the practical safety rules, regulations and procedures established by the Safety Committee
- Promptly report all unsafe actions, practices or conditions to the immediate supervisor
- Attend and participate in required safety trainings
- Perform other related duties as assigned, based on agency needs
Required Skills/Abilities (Technology, Mathematical, Language):
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to patrons, parents and employees of the Park District
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, schedules and procedural manuals
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form

Education and/or Experience:
- Strong platform tennis background and experience
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
- Regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools and controls
- Regularly required to reach with hands and arms
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including the sun, heat, humidity, and rain
- The noise level is moderate to high at times
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
