What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs position at Wilmington College?
Basic Function: Responsible for academic advising and placement, academic standards and appeals, academic award, retention system, commencement planning, study abroad, and supervision of Student Resource Center staff.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate academic advising, placement, and registration including assigning advisees and training faculty. Collaborate with Associate VP of Student Engagement and Office of Student Affairs to assist in student orientation and summer registrations as needed.
- Collaborate with members of Student Success and retention protocol committees by assisting with intervention and academic support.
- Chair Academic Standards and Appeals Committee. Prepare appeals and participate in committee meeting. Coordinate the end of the semester meetings (Dec. May)
- Review all student at the end of each semester to determine academic standing (probation, suspension, dismissal, etc.) Write letters to notify students of academic standing and terms of probation.
- Coordinate all baccalaureate and commencement events/activities and chair commencement committee.
- Plan Academic Honor and Recognition Ceremony in conjunction with Student Affairs.
- Represent Academic Affairs to prospective students and parents at open houses, inside look days, and scholarship competitions.
- Meet regularly with Admissions to review conditional/committee applications for admissions.
- Promote and manage scholarships, including Ohio Board of Regents Fellowship, Excellence Award, Jack Ken Cooke Foundation Graduate Scholarship, and Fulbright Scholarships.
- Promote study abroad opportunities and advise student who wish to study abroad.
- Advise faculty, investigate cases and initiate judicial proceeding for academic integrity violations.
- Work with Director of Accessibility/Disability to coordinate accommodations with faculty and Student Resource Center.
- Sign forms, interview students, and advise on leave of absence/withdrawal/readmittance.
- Coordinate Transfer Student Registration.
- Advise and register dual credit or CCP students.
- Prepare Academic Affairs reports for Board of Trustees for issues related to the Associate Dean's office.
- Aids with customer relations when students and/or parents encounter problems with academic regulations of the college.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the VP for Academic Affairs.

Qualifications:
- Terminal degree in an academic discipline of the college and at least three years of responsible related experience.
- Evidence of management experience in a broad range of related activities.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Willingness to integrate into the college community and community at large.
- Ability to plan and implement projects with a college-wide impact.
- Organizational leadership ability in supervising staff to achieve operations and services.
- Knowledge of emerging established ideas in higher education.
- Ability to develop and manage budgets.
- Experience in higher education.
