Position Highlights:
· Serve as a healthcare provider within two new school-based health clinics in Wilson County.
· Provide primary and preventive care services to school-aged children, including health assessments, sick visits, chronic disease management, and health education.
· Work closely with school staff, parents, and the Wilson County Health Department to ensure coordinated care.
· Promote wellness and support students’ academic success by addressing health concerns in a timely and effective manner.
What We’re Looking For:
· A passionate and skilled Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) with a heart for pediatric and adolescent healthcare.
· A current North Carolina license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA).
· Experience in pediatrics, family medicine, or school-based health (preferred but not required).
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with students, families, and school staff.

Important Note: This position will be hired as a CONTRACT POSITION, working 28-30 hours a week (extended hours may be possible if desired). This position will not be eligible for Wilson County benefits.
The Advanced Practice Provider II is an intermediate level professional position working under the guidance of a primary or supervising physician to provide medical diagnoses and disperse medical treatment to the community we serve.
This position provides management for a broad range of personal health services, including Child Health, STD, Maternity, Family Planning, Adult Health, and Primary Care. Services include diagnosing, treating, and managing acute and chronic illnesses; prescribing and administering therapeutic measures, procedures and drugs, promoting and maintaining health, providing guidance and counseling for individual families and consulting with and referring patients to other health care providers as appropriate. Changes in guidelines occur very frequently and must be implemented as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Necessary Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities for this position include:
Thorough knowledge of techniques of interviewing, medical and relevant history taking, principles and practices of general medicine and disease states as they relate to the area of work;
Thorough knowledge of health appraisal tools, laboratory tests and findings, materials, and medical and therapeutic procedures as they relate to the area of work;
Thorough knowledge and ability to plan a regime of care based on assessment and findings;
Considerable knowledge of available resources and appropriate referral methods;
Skills in performing clinical functions;
Skill in assisting with routine surgical procedures;
Ability to examine patients and detect abnormalities.;
Ability to record accurately and completely all information necessary to evaluate and plan care and to convey this to the physician;
Ability to communicate orally;
Ability to teach and counsel individuals, families, and groups in areas of health maintenance, preventive medicine, and care of the sick;
The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and to gain the confidence of patients and families and work effectively with them;
Some ability to plan and conduct in-service training programs.
If applicant is a Nurse Practitioner, must be licensed to practice as Registered Nurse in NC by the NC Board of Nursing and Advanced Nurse Practitioner by the NC Board of Medical Examiners.
