Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Program Director to step into a leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily operations and management of our group home facility. They are responsible for ensuring a safe and supportive environment for residents while adhering to all regulatory requirements.

The Program Director will assess all plans and evaluate the delivery of Non-Center Based Day

Support Services and Residential Care services. In this role, the Program Director provides for

the development and evaluation of residential staff, NCB day support staff, and maintains the

operational aspects of both on a 24-hour basis. The responsibilities of the Program Director

include staying in compliance with ALL Standards of Interdepartmental Regulations of Adult

Residential facilities, compliance with 12VAC35-108-30 - Service requirements for Home/Non-

Center Based Services and other applicable standards. The Program Director shall be

responsible for all personnel, overseeing the approval of the design of the structured programs

and its implementation, and for WRH financial integrity.

The Program Director must be able to develop and manage a variety of NCB day support

services such as: Community Engagement, Community Coaching, Group Day Services,

Employment & Community Transportation. These services support of individuals with

developmental disabilities in effort to promote healthy living independently, as possible, and to

engage in activities with peers and the broader community.

The Program Director must possess the ability to assess data reflective of the resident’s status

and interpret the information needed to identify each resident’s requirements relative to age

specific needs. It is also necessary that the Program Director to be able to provide care needed

as described by the policies and procedures of the home and non-center based day support

services.

The person selected to fill this position will also be responsible for overall Risk Management

and Quality Improvement for WILSON’S RESIDENTIAL HOMES

The person selected to fill this position must meet the following criteria:

A. Functional oral and written communication skills.

B. Strong knowledge of Direct Service requirements.

1. Working Knowledge of Supervisory issues.

2. Lifting Requirements: Able to assist residents with daily care needs.

3. Valid Virginia driver’s license.

4. Ability to organize and prioritize work tasks.

5. Ability to present self professionally.

6. Ability to self- direct.

7. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written.

8. Ability to contribute and function within a participative management structure.

9. Knowledge of standards for licensed residential facilities.

10. Skill in use of behavioral support practices.

11. Skill to complete satisfactory training requirements.

12. Skill in decision making, judgment and action in emergency or crisis situations.

13. Skill in maintaining confidential information.

14. Skill in locating and accessing community resources.

15. Supervise direct care givers.

Essential Job Functions

A. Directs staff and related activities of the home and NCB day support services.

1. Assess the number and level of staff needed to provide quality care.

2. Adjust staffing and assignments appropriately.

3. Sets monthly staff meetings and agendas.

4. Coordinates and approves all work schedules.

5. Interviews all applicants for vacant positions in the home.

B. Oversees the use and care of supplies and equipment; responsible for maintaining an

adequate level of supplies; establishes and reviews quantity standards for supplies and

equipment.

C. Provides safe therapeutic resident care:

1. Recognizes psychosocial and physiological differences of the residents.

2. Demonstrates respect of different cultural and religious beliefs and customs.

D. Address staff problems encountered.

1. Reviews and makes written recommendations regarding incident reports.

2. Acts as a consultant to all staff members for interpersonal problem-solving or

complaints.

E. Participates in all aspects of quality improvements and risk management.

F. Evaluates the quality of services which are provided and individual staff members who

provide them.

1. Conducts ninety (90) day evaluation on all new employees.

2. Completes annual written performance appraisals on all staff members in

accordance with the Performance Evaluation Policy.

3. Evaluates staff on an ongoing basis, providing constructive criticism or praise

as the situation warrants.

4. Ensure staff receive appropriate trainings in areas of deficiencies and new

competencies.

5. Counsels and/or terminates staff when necessary.

G. Prepares and implements annual operating and capital budget.

1. Manages all residents within budgeted amounts.

2. Investigates and explains all variances from budget.

H. Communicates effectively and therapeutically with residents, families, social workers,

and other members necessary to care for resident.

I. Communicates effectively with vendors and agencies in the community to provide

diverse and effective opportunities for residents and participants of NCB day support

services.

J. Develops, review, and revised policies and procedures of the home.

Job Qualifications

A. Education/Degree:

1. A master’s degree in social work, psychology, of two years professional

experience working with adults and children and in administration and

supervisor; or

2. A Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology counseling, nursing, or

administration and three years of combined professional experience working

with adults and children and in administration and supervisory experience.

3. A Bachelor’s degree and a combination of four years professional experience

in an adults and children’s residential facility and in administration and

supervision.

B. Other:

1. Demonstrate leadership and management skills.

2. Demonstrates skills in written and oral communication.

3. Possess CPR certification.

4. Medication training.

5. Submit official transcripts from the accredited college or university of

attendance within 30 days of hire.

6. Documentation of prior relevant experience.

Ongoing Requirements

A. Communication Requirements

1. Verbalization skills essential to instruct and direct residents, staff and visitors.

B. Safety Requirements

1. Must be aware of and comply with Fire Marshall Regulations.

2. Must adhere to safety policies and procedures of the home.

3. Must demonstrate knowledge sufficient to safely operate and/or maintain

equipment utilized in the home.

Educational Requirements

1. Attend additional fifteen (6) hours of management educational programs annually.

2. Maintains CPR certification.

3. Demonstrates an understanding of the legal aspects

his/her job performance.

D. Training Requirements

Must participate in all annual training required by regulatory guidelines and all

training required by WILSON’S RESIDENTIAL HOMES guidelines.
