SUMMARY:

The Supply Chain Director oversees the end-to-end supply chain operations, from procurement and sourcing of materials to the delivery of the final product to the customer. This role involves strategic planning and execution to ensure the supply chain is efficient, cost-effective, and capable of meeting the demands of the business while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction. By coordinating with various departments, including production, sales, and logistics, the Supply Chain Director ensures a seamless flow of goods and information across the organization. This position requires a deep understanding of market trends and supplier landscapes; plus strong knowledge of manufacturing planning to optimize production schedules, resource allocation, capacity utilization, and logistical challenges to optimize the supply chain’s performance and support the company’s overall strategy and goals.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•    Oversee the entire supply chain operations, including procurement, logistics, inventory management, and order fulfillment, to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
•    Develop and implement supply chain strategies that align with the company’s goals and market demands, including sustainability initiatives and risk management plans.
•    Negotiate contracts with suppliers, vendors, and logistics providers to secure favorable terms and ensure a reliable supply of materials and services.
•    Collaborate with other departments, such as sales, marketing, and finance, to forecast demand and plan supply chain activities accordingly.
•    Oversee manufacturing planning, ensuring production schedules align with demand forecasts, inventory levels, and resource availability.
•    Collaborate with production teams to optimize capacity planning, minimize lead times, and reduce production bottlenecks
•    Implement and utilize advanced supply chain management technologies and systems for improved visibility, tracking, and optimization of operations.
•    Lead and manage the supply chain team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation, to build a high-performing team.
•    Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to supply chain activities, including environmental and safety standards.
•    Spearhead initiatives to identify and mitigate risks in the supply chain, such as supplier diversification, inventory management strategies, and contingency planning for disruptions.
•    Overseeing shipping methods such as air freight, trucking, rail, or ship transport.
•    Creating plans for new facilities or improving existing facilities to meet current and future needs.
•    Evaluating potential suppliers based on price, quality, delivery time, and customer service.
•    Developing annual budgets and long-term strategic plans, including capital expenditures and labor needs.
•    Developing and implementing supply chain strategies.
•    Utilize data analytics and market trends to improve planning accuracy.
•    Manage vendor relationships; negotiate contracts.
•    Overseeing the procurement and logistics processes.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•    Demand Forecasting: Predicting future customer demand is critical for optimizing inventory levels, ensuring products are available when needed without excessive overstock. By analyzing historical sales data, market trends, and employing predictive analytics, a Supply Chain Director can align production schedules and supply chain operations with anticipated market demands.
•    Supplier Relationship Management: Managing supplier relationships is essential for a resilient and responsive supply chain. It involves a strategic approach to selecting and nurturing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and fostering open communication to align supplier capabilities with organizational goals and market demands.
•    Inventory Optimization: Ensuring inventory levels are perfectly balanced to meet customer demand without tying up excessive capital. This requires analyzing data trends, forecasting accurately, and coordinating with procurement and sales teams to dynamically adjust inventory strategies.
•    Risk Management: Developing contingency plans to mitigate potential disruptions in the supply chain is crucial for its smooth operation and reliability. A Supply Chain Director must analyze market trends, supplier stability, and geopolitical factors that could impact the flow of goods and materials.
•    Lean Manufacturing Principles: Streamlining operations by eliminating waste and optimizing workflows allows for more efficient and cost-effective product delivery. Implementing continuous improvement strategies based on these principles enhances overall supply chain performance and customer satisfaction.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

•    Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field. Relevant coursework includes logistics, operations management, procurement, and analytics. Master’s degree preferred.
•    10 years of experience in supply chain management, including leadership roles.
•    Certifications such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) from APICS, and the Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) from the Institute for Supply Management.
•    Proven expertise in demand planning, logistics, procurement, and supplier management.
•    Strong knowledge of ERP systems, supply chain analytics, and process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
•    Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
•    Ability to work in a fast-paced, global environment with cross-functional teams.
•    Exposure to global supply chain operations and technology-driven supply chain solutions is a plus and highly valued.
•    Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
•    Knowledge of market conditions and supply chain risk mitigation.
•    Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing demands.
•    High attention to detail and organizational skills.

Future:
Global Logistics Management: Coordinating the movement of goods across international borders requires a keen ability to ensure compliance with various countries’ regulations while optimizing costs and delivery times. A Supply Chain Director must leverage relationships with carriers, customs agents, and suppliers to streamline global operations and enhance supply chain resilience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands and work environment are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. In addition to continuous sitting and working on a computer, the role may involve continuous reaching forward between shoulder/waist, bending/twisting/rotating, and simple grasping and writing. Occasional exposure to an indoor manufacturing environment, chemicals, and/or fumes may occur. The ability to stand and walk frequently and occasionally lift and carry up to 25 lbs. is required.
